Firms of Record

Lord Aeck and Sargent
Full Scale Architecture Principal, Scott Kyle, AIA LEED, served as Intern Architect on several projects at Lord Aeck and Sargent (LAS) in Atlanta and Project Manager for the Atlanta Community Connections Center as his first real job out of graduate school. LAS was a medium sized firm at the time, which has since grown into a multi-office, nationally renowned firm, and continues to use a studio approach to manage project design. Scott worked under LAS Principal Joe Greco, AIA, in what was called Special Projects at the time. Projects included the 33 Ponce Loft adaptive reuse, a homeless shelter and education center, Riverside Military Academy, the Georgia Capitol Education Center, and graphics and web-based technology initiatives, such as ProjWeb.

FITTS Architects
Fitts Architects is a small Architectural practice in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where Principal Scott Kyle, AIA LEED, completed his intern training and served as Project Manager and designer, while also redesigning their marketing and graphics. Scott also initiated new firm technologies such as Revit (1.0 at the time) and Speclink, as well as a sustainable design focus.

BCWH Architects
Full Scale Architecture Principal, Scott Kyle, AIA LEED, served as Project Manager and/or lead designer on many projects while at BCWH (Bond Comet Westmoreland and Hiner) Architects in Richmond, Virginia. He also initiated a sustainable design focus, as well as greening the office - registering the firm as a USGBC member, organizing a firmwide trip to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation headquarters, setting up a complete office recycling system, and co-organizing a 10-class sustainable design seminar for members of the firm. Scott also managed and mentored staff and helped initiate a new website and BIM adoption. Scott had the pleasure of working under Principal Charles Piper, AIA, while at BCWH. Although BCWH does not recognize lead design contributions but only lead management contributions by title (i.e. Project Manager), teams typically include one member that is responsible for the overall design and design consistency throughout the project. BCWH project teams have clearly defined roles that overlap between levels of responsibility as well.  There is a Principal-in-charge, Project Manager (typically the lead designer as well for projects less than 100,000 sf), “Project Architect” (usually a staff architect in a support role) and, hopefully, an interior designer. BCWH calls the design of a project a “blend” of the contributions from all members of the team. In fact every project requires the expertise and determination of many professionals and design team members in order to make this process a success.

The following represent projects at BCWH for which Scott Kyle served as lead designer and project manager, with the exception of Colonial Trail, for which he served the role of lead designer and project architect:
