After 15 Years of Immersion in Green Design, Our Reason for Being has Never Changed.

It’s our conviction that buildings can point us toward a sustainable future that inspires us every day. Starting with a belief in the democracy of materials, lots of intellectual curiosity, an abiding humility toward our place in the world, and an optimism that we can do good work, we strive to create building environments that will be instructive about their place and how they work. And we fully expect that they will be contributors socially, environmentally and ecologically to the communities in which they are built. We refer to this triple bottom-line approach as full-scale architecture, and it’s the mindset that flows through our business and into our designs, and is embodied in our name.

Full Scale Architecture is a small sustainable design practice located in the Historic Manchester District on the south side of downtown Richmond, Virginia. Our work includes award-winning, sustainably-designed, light industrial, institutional, commercial, and residential environments. We look forward to helping clients with their challenges in greening other markets as well. We advocate using environmental ratings systems for our projects where appropriate and feasible and are accredited for administering LEED, as well as Earthcraft and Energy Star (partner).
